Safi is a city in central western Morocco, located approximately 130 km north of Essaouira and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.
It was property of Portugal from 1488 to 1541 and the walls they erected to defend the city still exist today.
It is famous for the handicraft of terracotta utensils of various sizes, all hand-decorated and for the processing of sardines, its typical product.
The new part of the city is characterized by a quiet residential area with tree-lined avenues and villas with white walls; the old part (the traditional side of the city) is made up of several craft markets and the remains of the never completed Portuguese cathedral.
Both the mild Mediterranean climate and the waves considered the highest in Morocco have recently turned the city into the ideal destination for the greatest surfers in the world.
Here, they have the opportunity to challenge themselves at “The Garden”.
This powerful wave-tube, which the most experienced surfers can ride fro 15 seconds, streches for hundreds of meters in length.
If you want to find the perfect wave, then the “ Lalla Fatna ” beach is certainly for you.
Located 15 km north of Safi, you absolutely must not miss the breathtaking panorama that can be enjoyed from the top of rocks that sink into the ocean.
Furthermore, if you don’t know how to surf or want lessons to improve in this adrenaline-pumping discipline, then it is advisable for you to visit the “Safi Surf Club”.
Here, in addition to being able to rent the boards if you do not have them with you, you can also take advantage of rooms with wifi, air conditioning and private bathrooms.
Finally, the club will allow you to enjoy a delicious dinner, strictly cooked with the “tajines”, that is the terracotta dishes typical of Moroccan cuisine.
A unique experience that will give you many emotions!
